Where Arts, Education and Technology Intersect

by Carol Kouchi Yotsuda from ARTS Winter 2003

Kauai's Imagination Destination – community-based Center for arts, education and technology, a dream that has rapidly been taking shape since May 2002, has taken a giant leap forward in this new year!

For the past eight months, a group of interested community individuals and non-profit entities have met to envision, plan, and discuss the creation and implementation of a space where the people of Kauai could come to learn, explore and express themselves through arts and technology.

It would be a state-of-the-art facility where classes, workshops, lectures, exhibitions, performances and other art, cultural and technology- related activities could be enjoyed by persons of all ages.

The primary partners are Hoike Community Television, Kauai United Way, and arts organizations under the umbrella of the Garden Island Arts Council (GIAC).

Forging the Center from vision to reality is one of the most exciting things to happen in the arts community. Call 245-2733 or email giac@hawaiilink.net now to add your ideas, expertise and resources to this community venture.
