Aloha Friends of Lihue Public Library,
We are seeking volunteers to help us tend the summer reading desk in the children’s area at the library.
The Summer Reading Program (SRP) will run for 7/seven weeks this year from Monday, June 1 to Friday, July 31.
Volunteers should be able to commit to 2-4 hour shifts scheduled for the children’s SRP desk.
The task involves sitting at the desk or keeping an eye on the desk. Helping children sign up for the program, helping them record the books they have read on their reading logs and distributing reading incentive prizes.  Despite serving between 300-400 kids, this task is usually fairly slowly paced such that the single volunteer may be able to do some reading, handiwork, or chatting with patrons while also being in charge of the Children’s SRP desk.
Please call, email, or walk in to let us know which slots in the volunteer schedule you can help with!
