OHA Kaua`i, in partnership with Malie Foundation would like to invite you to learn about the history of traditional Hawaiian tattoos or tatau (also kakau) with cultural practitioner, Kamali`i Hanohano of Wai‘anae, O‘ahu.

Kamali`i apprenticed in uhi (solid tattooing) about 8 years ago and did his uniki in 2016. He was given the title of Mo‘okane at the traditional tatoo school called Pauhi under Kahuna Ka Uhi Keonehanauona‘ali‘i. His talent praises his kumu Keone Nunes.

He will be sharing on the history of the cultural tradition of tatau (“kakau”) and will be following up his lecture with a demonstration. Join us!
