Show of “One Hundred Entertainments” scenes by Tambi Larsen, award-winning movie art director. Larsen’s work captures scenes of Kauai’s past with artistic flair. Some originals will be displayed.
Commentary by Bob Schleck, Director of Grove Farm Homestead Museum.
In his drawings of Hanalei, Kapaia, Hanamaulu, Kokee, Koloa, and other communities, Larsen wove historic buildings, plantations, churches, and foliage into whimsical, colorful scenes of island life. Originals were exhibited and sold in late 1980s and 1991. Slides of the drawings were digitized by Bob Schleck and Moises Madayag, Grove Farm museum, and have not been shown for 20 years. The Kauai Historical Society publications committee wants to publish a fine art book when resources become available.

Most writers struggle at times with our ‘internal critic’ who whispers nasty little messages in our ears such as ‘What makes you think you can write?’ or ‘Why are you even trying this—you know you’ll fail!’  In this workshop, award-winning mainland author Dorothy Hinshaw Patent will help writers learn how to express themselves in fresh, spontaneous language and how to polish what they have written.  In addition to writing 140 books issued by major publishers, she has taught many workshops and classes at the Yellowstone Institute, University of Montana, Volcano Art Center, and the Island School on Kaua’i and more.
