Arts Council

bringing arts to the people and people to the arts!

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, GIAC provides exciting year-round arts & cultural activities through dynamic projects, events, and education for youth and adults on Kaua‘i.

Our Programs

E Kanikapila KāKou

A beloved annual Hawaiian music series, now entering its 43rd season, featuring eight weeks of “backyard-style” kanikapila in a concert setting. In 2026 EKK will be held at the Kauaʻi Community College Performing Arts Center on Monday nights--February 2nd through March 23rd.

Līhuʻe Airport Displays

Coordinated by a dedicated team of artists, who have installed 90+ engaging and informative displays in two large window showcases at the airport. Each display elevates local stories and initiatives, touching on broader themes such as conservation, artistic expression, and Hawai'i's rich cultures.

Van Go! Mobile art room

Since 2003, this program has brought arts education --through visual arts, storytelling, and crafts-- to Kauaʻi's schools, libraries, and community centers. Early exposure to arts and culture fosters lifelong engagement, with childhood experiences playing a key role in building resilience, confidence, and well-being.

Community Art Projects

GIAC provides support for community art initiatives through management, fiscal sponsorship, and promotion. Currently GIAC is sponsoring Ka Pae 'Āina O Hawaiʻi Nei: Hawaiian Archipelago Mosaic Mural Program, an 80 foot long mural to be installed in 2026 at Wowoni Point at Kīlauea Lighthouse.

Kauaʻi Crafts Studio

Hands-on workshops in fabric dyeing, ceramics, drawing,  printmaking, and more which connect participants with local and visiting artists, helping them build skills and deepen their appreciation for creative traditions. Participants enjoy creating together in community, building relationships, and developing artistic confidence.

BoroBoro Boutique

Launched in 2021, BBB is a volunteer sewing committee which creates upcycled clothing and products to fund community art projects. The annual BBB Pop-Up and Craft-A-Thon, during the Memorial Day 3-day weekend, reflects GIAC’s commitment to creative expression and environmental stewardship through waste reduction.

Arts and culture calendar

This free online resource connects artists, organizations, and the public, keeping everyone informed and engaged with the island’s creative scene--sent out twice a month and receives event submissions from organizations across Kaua'i.

We believe that through creativity, individuals thrive and communities are strengthened.
