Bringing ARTS to the PEOPLE and PEOPLE to the ARTS.

Mission

We believe that through creativity, individuals thrive and communities are strengthened

Values

  • Encourage greater public participation in and understanding, enjoyment and appreciation of a wide variety of art and cultural activities
  • Create greater public concern about and awareness of the value of art and culture in enriching the lives of residents and visitors by initiating and promoting quality programs
  • Partner with other community organizations and the community at large to establish a “home” for arts, education and technology where the partners in the facility can effectively carry out their missions to serve the community and help build a strong economic base for our island community

Vision

our story

The Garden Island Arts Council (GIAC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the cultural life of Kaua‘i through the arts. Established in 1977 to encourage greater public participation in and appreciation of the visual, performing, and cultural arts, GIAC promotes understanding, enjoyment, and awareness of the value of creativity in daily life.

Guided by an all-volunteer board of directors, the Council produces a year-round program of arts and cultural activities for both residents and visitors. Through partnerships with community organizations and educational institutions, GIAC also works toward establishing a permanent home for arts, education, and technology—a space where collaboration can flourish and contribute to the island’s cultural vitality and economic strength.
