The Teresa Bright Legacy Project
Inspiring future generations.
The Teresa Bright Legacy Foundation was established in loving memory of Teresa Bright, one of Hawaiʻi’s most distinctive and beloved musical artists. Its mission is to honor her extraordinary artistic legacy while providing funding and development opportunities for aspiring and deserving Hawaiʻi-based musicians.
A remarkable voice of the Hawaiian Renaissance, Teresa was celebrated for her unmistakable, gentle singing style and her versatility as an artist. Beyond music, she was an accomplished landscape painter, traditional lauhala weaver, and college-level music educator. Her artistry and dedication left an enduring mark on Hawaiʻi’s cultural community.
The First Project: A Musical Tribute to Teresa
The Foundation's inaugural project is a jazz-inspired tribute album celebrating Teresa's music and artistic journey. Featuring approximately 10 songs, the album is currently in production, with a planned release on CD, vinyl, and digital platforms by the end of this year.
The project reflects Teresa's musical evolution, including her exploration of jazz, and honors the nearly three decades of musical collaboration she shared with pianist and co-producer Christopher Ebersbach.
Help Make It Happen
The Foundation has partnered with the Garden Island Arts Council (GIAC) to receive and administer donations for this and future projects. As a nonprofit charitable organization, GIAC can provide tax-deductible donation receipts.
The fundraising goals are:
$25,000 to complete and release the Teresa Bright tribute album.
$15,000 to establish initial funding for future Foundation projects and opportunities for Hawaiʻi musicians.
Every contribution, regardless of size, makes a difference.
